Pendulum reading is the use of a pendulum or other dangling object to predict future events. The user holds the pendulum, which will then swing one way or the other, or circle, to create an established «yes» and «no.» Prior to the 19th century, when adopted for use by fortune tellers, pendulums were often used as a method for dowsing the location of water.
Cartomancy, or tarot card reading, is the use of a deck of specialized fortune teller cards, which, when arranged in an established format of a «reading,» reveals details about the person receiving the reading, including information related to finances, career, love, and other questions.
Crystallomancy has roots in reading information via reflective surfaces like water or mirrors. It attempts to use the scrying technique to see in a crystal sphere which is then relayed to the participant.
